MEET YOUR CANDIDATES 2011-FOR RICHMOND MP
On Thursday, April 21, 2011, Canada Asia Pacific Business Association (CAPBA) proudly presented, Meet Your Candidates 2011 – for Richmond Member of Parliaments, at Shiang Garden Restaurant. More than 100 members from our association and local business executives attended our luncheon. We were honoured to have the candidates from the Liberals, NDP, Green, and Independent parties of the Richmond and the Delta Richmond East riding to join us. We explored and discussed about the key issues of current government policies and future policy proposals. Each dialogue was exchanged between party members, and elaborated upon. The event attendees were very much involved in this grand debate by asking the candidates about issues that are important to them. During the debate, oversea Canadians were able to visualize the conversation and asked questions through the Internet.
The president of CAPBA, Elsa Wong, hopes that through this event, our members and the Asian-Pacific community will have a better understanding of the current government, and make an informed voting decision in the upcoming Federal Election. Ms. Wong and our event attendees were disappointed by the absence of the Conservative Party’s candidates, Alice Wong and Kerry-Lynne Findlay, at the event as it was not a full exploration without knowing what the Conservative’s perspectives would have been to the public issues. However, we wish that what the Conservatives were busy with during this time was worth while for the Richmond community.
For all the attendees and the media friends who joined us for this informative event, we like to show our appreciation. We wish all our candidates a great election and may the best be voted to be our next representative in Parliament for the coming years.
